Welcome to my blog, people of Earth

August is coming, and so far hurricane season hasn't put too much of a damper on the Caribbean. The demand for closer-to-home trips has never been greater in all the years I've been doing this, particularly with fuel/air prices going berserk, and the Euro beating the crud out of our little US dollar. There are still travel bargains out there, and the key is F-L-E-X-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y. On dates, destination, room category, all that good stuff. Every time you put a "qualifier" on your travel needs (I have to have ____ or I can only go ___), the likelihood is it's costing you $$$$.

When I first got into the selling side of the travel business, I was given the nickname "The Guru" because of my first-hand experience in all things floating (see About Me over here on the right in that yellow stuff, and take notes if you need to). Even with that, people would call in and ask for expert advice, then decide to go with whatever they had in their head originally. That always amazes me. Now I'm not saying I see all, and know all (even though it's true), but as Lynyrd Skynyrd said, "I Know A Little".

By the same token if someone has a vacation in mind and I talk them out of it and sell them something they HATE instead, they'd probably be finding a new nickname for me in a hurry....probably one I couldn't print. So my job is more to advise and counsel, and work with people based on their needs and personalities. Anyone who has flexibility will get excellent results from using an experienced agent vs. doing things on their own, too. A highly experienced agent can offer insider tips you won't get from an online source, or someone new to the biz. Where is that perfect cabin? What deck do I REALLY want to be on? Trust The Guru, I've got answers and a big enough mouth to share! So feel free to jump in any time you feel like blogging here. The only thing I ask is to keep it at least a little bit about travel, keep it clean, and have fun. Amen. Pass the gravy, Nadine....
